The act of pretending; a false appearance or action intended to deceive.
The four clans live in peace and harmony. The idea of conflict has died away with the coming of the 'Great Peace'. For moons the clans have experienced a comforting presence of serenity. Patrols course the borders leisurely, apprentices race through the night without a reason to fret, and warriors happily doze knowing their clan is safe. But a storm is brewing on the horizon, and cats wistfully stand oblivious, unknowing of the misfortune to come.
Pretense is a literate Warriors roleplay, based on the books by Erin Hunter. We boast exciting plots, and a friendly, homely community. We hope to see you around (:
once a month, an outstanding member will be voted as Member of the Month by the users (: They won't win anything special but sincere recognition. and they are probably better than you
once a month, the admins of Pretense will chose a character they believe deserves a standing ovation. They will be awarded with adoring fans and perhaps a catchy show tune.
once a month, a paring, or kitty couple will be chosen by the admins to be worshipped by everyone. That means that this pairing is just awww so sticky, sweet, cute, or their chemistry is so sizzling that everyone in a 20 mile radios is getting hot just by observation. oh baby.
I'm just letting everyone know that we're not dead! In fact, I would love it if we could start posting again (: And that means from everyone, just not a select few. Pretense can't run on four members. Trust me.
anyways, just keep posting, creating characters and logging on (: Pretense needs to be a legend! A RPG that people talk about for years, an amazing piece of art...! It needs to be awesome! And I'm sure we definitely have that potential, so just keep chugging.

With the arrival of new-leaf comes life. As a result of melting snow, and increasing rainfall, the river has been on the rise. Riverclan may suffer from some decent damage due to flooding, that is if the clouds refuse to calm. The other clans are suffering from minimal prey and constant rain. Stay on high ground, and keep clear of the river.
Our first gathering will be held June 3rd. Until then, roleplay accordingly to the weather. Create strong ties with your clanmates, clash with your enemies, and earn some sweet lovin from your mates. In other words, due what you've been doing. Roleplay is going to be very relaxed this upcoming month until we get active again (:

This is the origin of your characters. Before a character can be roleplayed, their biography must be created here. Once it is completed and ready for analysis, an admin will either accept or reject your character. If accepted it will be moved to the appropriate sub-board, if rejected it will be left alone for corrections.
Anything that concerns your characters can be found here. Whether it be a plot, a relationship, a mentor, or an apprentice. Newly born kits, and unwanted characters are also be pawned off here. It's a jack of all trades sort of board.
Think of this board as your own personal 'space'. Here you can make your very own thread. This thread is generally used to keep track of characters, templates, and other important bits of information that pertains to your characters.
A small range of mountains take claim as Highstones. In the midst of rock, lays a dark, musty cave that homes an eerie, almost ghastly rock. In any other light, it would be just a boulder, but in the moonlight it becomes an entrance into Starclan.
Four great oaks stand, guarding the neutral lands of the four great clans. It is here that each territory merges into one, and it is here that cats gather in peace. Every full moon, when the sky is heavy with stars, clan cats will unite and for night become one.
In the heart of the forest resides the Thunderclan Camp. The entrance is a well camouflaged, sandy ravine. Ancient paw prints lead you through the gorse tunnel, and into a bustling community. At it's center lays the legendary Highrock. It is there the leader addresses his clan, and it is there the clan assembles.
A collection of oaks, maples, and birches shelter Thunderclan from the blundering heat. The forest is only paw steps away from the camp. Making it an ideal place for a quick hunt. Many well-known landmarks live famously within the forest limits. Such a the Owl-Tree, and the two-leg path that leads through Tallpines; and onward to the two-leg place.
Legend has it that its great branches stretch all the way to Starclan. The Great Sycamore is where apprentices learn how to climb trees. Only a few paces away lays snakerocks, a dangerous hunting ground, where deadly adders wait patiently for the moment to strike. It's also the gateway to the Thunderpath which takes you to the Shadowclan border.
A training hollow surrounded by trees. This clearing is unusually sandy, creating a soft environment for learning apprentices to battle-train. The sandy hollow lays within the depths of the forest; making it the perfect mid-afternoon battle-session on the way back from a hunt.
As harmless as a collection of sunning rocks seem, this treasure of Thunderclan is the cause of many gruesome battles. Many cats have lost their lives for these rocks, and triumphantly they sit, perched in Thunderclan soil. Yet, Riverclan watches, waiting, perfectly for the moment to make their claim.
A natural dip in the grassy moorland provides a sheltered camp for the lithe Windclan warriors. Once through the gorse walls, you'd be surprised to find only a couple dens. Windclan warriors and apprentices sleep beneath the stars, true warriors to Starclan. A tall stone sits near the rear of the camp, this is the Tallrock, where every important decision is declared.
Rolling, grassy hills make up the majority of Windclan territory. A few clumps of heather, and other brush contribute to the land scape. Many abandoned rabbit holes inhabit the grassland, so keep your eyes on the ground. The moorland gradually fades into the one last downhill run, and Fourtrees sits on the horizon.
A badger doesn't live here anymore, but its scent is still strong. Long ago a badger lived inside this burrow, but for some unknown reason it left. The scent is now used to teach apprentices to stay far, and clear away from this viscous animal. Rumors says the scent leads all the way to Riverclan territory.
The thundering water of the gorge can be heard at great distances. It is also the tell-tale sign, that you are getting close to Riverclan territory. Not only is it dangerously close to another clan, but it is a forbidden playland for apprentices. The frightening fall, and gushing water can mean certain death for any foolish cat.
These large, smooth rocks slope up above the moorland, providing the perfect look out station. Apprentices are often assigned here to test their alertness, and patience. Atop the rocky out ledge, you can see far out to the horizon. A little ways away from Outlook Rock, is the Thunderpath. This marks the border between Shadowclan.
A gushing, gurgling river surrounds the Riverclan camp. It is here where the water inclined warriors make their home. A high wall of reeds shelter the cats from rain, and wind. While draping willows provide shade, during the blistering summers. Most of the dens are constructed by reeds, and other nick knacks found on the shore. On the far side of camp, a cluster of rocks attract heat from the sun, and make perfect dozing spots for tired warriors.
A bubbling, swirling mass of water runs right through Riverclan's territory, and it is this river that gives them their name. The river provides a collection of resources for the clan. Not only does it keep them fed, but it shelters their camp from danger. The river is not too deep, but for those who are faint of heart, their is a group of stepping stones that may carry you across.
It's hardly big enough to be claimed a forest, but this cluster of trees is able to sustain, a bustling woodland community. The treeline runs along the Thunderclan border, and is almost as disputing as the Sunningrocks. Fortunately Riverclan is still able to defend it proudly, and will cling to this piece of land for moons to come.
On occasion the water can become life-threatening to the warriors of Riverclan. It is at times like this when they are forced to use the Two-Leg Bridge. At one time, during a flood, the Riverclan warriors had to take safety atop the wooden planks, and since then it has been a well-noted back up plan. Although typically the bridge is left alone, as most two-leg structures.
The falls illustrate the end of the gorge, and also signify the most dangerous landmark in Riverclan territory. It's rushing currents make it almost impossible to swim. It is suicide to even tempt it. The thundering currents are also a reminder of the distinct border with Windclan, and it is here that disputes can break out.
The Shadowclan camp sits in a humble dip in the earth, reinforced with prickly brambles, and dense undergrowth, making it almost impossible to enter. Like much of the territory the camp's floor is soft, cool, and mushy. Underneath the roots of a large oak is where the leader slumbers. While important meetings are held atop a large smooth boulder propped up against a second rock. Beneath these two rocks is where the medicine cat dwells.
The marshlands cover the majority of Shadowclan's territory. Frogs, voles, and mice live within the boggy surface. Brush clutters the soft, earthy ground, making perfect camouflage for the Shadowclan warriors. There is a lack of trees in the marshes, so shelter from the blistering heat is an unfortunate asset.
Apprentices and kits are taught at a young age to stay clear from the garbage dump. The rats who live there carry a deadly, nameless disease that is known for taking many lives. Cats are seen as foolish for even considering hunting there. But that doesn't stop those who do.
Long ago this Sycamore was tall and proud. It's leaves stretched toward the sky. But during a storm the tree was struck by lightning, and was destroyed. Now it's bare branches offer a significant landmark for the Shadowclan cats. Apprentices are brought here for training, and it also is a popular place for hunting patrols.
The tunnel below the thunderpath is one of Shadowclan's most valuables secrets. Its silver lined channel leads straight into Thunderclan territory. Not only does it provide shaded transportation, but along the Thunderpath is a strip of pines, providing another useful hunting ground for the Shadowclan warriors. The thunderpath is not only the border with Thunderclan, but with Windclan as well.
A swath of two-leg houses stretch on for miles along the Thunderclan border. Nothing interesting other than a collection of Thunderpaths lay beyond the fence. The only cats who live here are kitty-pets and the occasional loner. These lands are forbidden to the clan cats. But sometimes, these rules are broken.
Across the Thunderpath lays a quaint, little country home, and barn. Cats are welcome to dwell in the barn, clan and non-clan alike. There are few permanent residents, but those who are, are often allies of the clan cats. The barn is often used as a resting place, after the long trek to Highstones.
The Thunderpath stretches through the four clan territories, severing Shadowclan off from the rest. The hot sticky, surface leads to faraway distant lands. Most cats tend to stay away, due to the reckless monsters that drive on the path. Only the most brave, or foolish stick around.
There's an unclaimed plot of land between Windclan and the barn. Although made of mostly tall prairie grass, there are a few trees dotted here and there. Loners are typically found living in this area. They are mostly friendly cats, but as the warrior codes insists, they should not be trusted.
Beyond Highstones is a stretch of rocky hills, and little moorland. Off in the distance is tattered, abandoned farmlands. It is here that you would find rogues fighting for survival. There is little food, and a poor source of water. Only the strongest can survive.
